It’s rare that I repeat a theme, but when Cuisine Kathleen announced her apple theme for today, I had to create a new Apple -Themed Fantasy Tablescape. Just a few weeks ago, I presented An Apple for the Teacher, and really had fun digging into my stash for apple-themed items. With the new challenge in front of me, I decided to re-invent the ‘scape using some new pieces along with some that I used the first time.
I started with the Indian cotton apple tablecloth from HomeGoods — I used the napkins the last time but not the tablecloth — to create a strong base for a lighter table.
The fabric spoke to me and I pulled out tableware with leafy green accents to bring the images of nature onto the table. The Noritake Aberdeen takes its place, its gold rim enhanced by the gold chargers and the dessert plate.
The beaded apples represent the fantasy; their beautiful texture and delicate shine bring out our longing for the perfect crisp bite into fall’s bountiful apple harvest.
The Gorham Trilogy sterling flatware has lovely tendrils climbing its handles.
The vintage cut glass stemware repeats the natural theme while the swirled champagne flute adds movement to the setting.
Add the “golden apple” in the cloche and we’ve got a theme going!
I purposely tried to keep this tablescape lighter but still have lots of shine, so the mirror under the centerpiece was a must. I normally try to keep my centerpieces pretty low, as I have a small dining room and I don’t want them to overpower my room or discourage conversation among my guests. These tall candlesticks, topped by Partylite votives, are thin enough to see around but also pick up the gold accents seen elsewhere on the table. I’m usually a symmetrical kind of girl, but the two levels of these candlesticks was kind of fun when paired with the cloche.
The red candleholders repeat the shape of the apples and add a pop of lustrous red to the table.
A well-worn and oh-so-soft white damask napkin in a wedding-band ring accents the lightness of the tableware; you can never go wrong with collecting vintage linens.
Thrift Store Finds
It’s not a GMR tablescape without a visit to a thrift store, and the Apple-Themed Fantasy Tablescape is no exception. I really scored this time with these candlesticks that pick up the autumn colors of the tablecloth. I actually found these on two different trips to the Salvation Army store; who could pass them up at $1.46 and $.76? I had originally intended to paint them antique white, but they were perfect for this theme!
I also found another set of napkin rings at the same place I found these rings; apparently napkin rings are a popular give-away to thrift stores. With twelve of these beauties that stand up on their own, I can create a myriad of napkin arrangements. Just like wedding-band china, these rings are classics.
This tablescape shows that you don’t need to have flowers or layers and layers of expensive dishes to create beauty for your home. Most of the items on this table were either given to me by relatives and friends or found at a resale shop. With some thrifty shopping and an accepting heart, grandma’s old dishes will become your treasures too.
I’m linking up this week at Let’s Dish with Cuisine Kathleen, Open House Party with No Minimalist Here, Inspire Me Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life, and Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch. Be sure to visit these creative bloggers for lovely photos and inspiration.
Got my bags, got my reservations,
Spent each dime I could afford.
Like a child in wild anticipation,
I long to hear that, “All aboard!”

Your apples are stunning and your tablesetting is amazing. Thanks so much for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
I agree that we don’t need to buy new things for every table. I usually use flowers and natural things from my yard and mix and match the dishes I have with linens for different effects. I’m really glad you did not paint the candlesticks! It’s nice to have the color on this pretty table! Linda
Lovely, Jennie! I like the reds and golds together, plus all the shine! I have some glittery pomegranates that I need to pull out and put to work. The tablecloth is perfect for this theme!
Very nice! Great tablecloth and accents. I like the golden apple in the center and the candlesticks as accents. I like how your stemware mimicks the candlesticks.
Beautiful table, very elegant. Very pretty flatware, I like the pattern the length of the pieces. You will use those napkin rings over and over, they are so versatile. I love those beaded apples…I a couple bags of plum colored fruit at the thrift store, anxious to use it for a fall table.
Have a wonderful week…
What a pretty apple table! Everything has such a lovely elegance to it!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful….love it all. The tablecloth, the napkin rings, everything is wonderful!

I love all your treasures you’ve put together to make such a pretty table! Your stemware is so pretty as are your dishes!
You have put such a pretty table together. I love the Noritake Aberdeen china. It is beautiful, such a classic design. You really did good on the candlesticks and napkin rings, quite a find. Isn’t it just the greatest when you score really nice things at phenomenal prices. The apples do add such a vibrant sparkle to the whole table! Great job!! Incidentally, since I started reading your posts I find myself singing “Got my bags, got my reservations” when I am walking through the grocery store. After that I burst into “See the pyramids along the Nile, watch the sunrise on a tropic isle”, and yes people do stare.
Beautiful table. Your dishes are so gorgeous with the gold and I love the gold apple you added.
Come visit. Check out my elegant box, my husband made.
